What We Do
What we do not do
|
Advensys Limited is a supplier of Business Computer Systems in general, but we have specific expertise in applications for:
We are the authors of our own application software called Advensys (meaning Advanced Enterprise Systems).
We write your systems - We host your systems - We manage your data
The Advensys system is one fully-integrated product, and we have a total commitment to the development and support of this product. It covers all aspects of Buying, Selling, Stock Control, Accounting and looking after customers.
Our software has always been written using a technology called Magic, from Magic Software Enterprises, and we are a Magic Solution Partner. We have been working with Magic for almost ten years.
Our first product set was called Advensys Version 5 (Advensys V5). This is highly functional but now looks somewhat dated. Whilst we will continue to support this product, it is not being developed and no new installations will take place.
Our latest software, which we call Advensys Version Nine (or Advensys V9 for short) builds upon the V5 product but runs only through the Internet Explorer web browser. It uses the very latest technology from Magic Software, and is a native web application. All our customers need is the browser. This software is leading-edge. We have not seen any other software on the market, which compares directly with what we offer.
To complement the simplicity of running everything through a web browser, we will also host the V9 application for our customers. This means that we site equipment within a secure location at the heart of the bandwidth of the internet, so that customers benefit from having servers held in an environment where there is:
We want our customers to be able to get on with their business, and to be able to respond quickly to new opportunities with a dynamic workforce. This means that we do not want them to be tied down with mundane matters such as Database Administration, System or Data Backups.
To complement the hosting we provide data management facilities, so that we ensure data is backed-up within the data centre. This is where all the updates to company information take place.
Additionally, experience tells us that customers feel more secure when they know that there is a copy of their data at their own premises. To this end, we provide a local file server on the customer's site, which we manage remotely. This uses a technique called one-way database replication, so that a copy of the database is automatically maintained. The server on-site contacts the server at the data centre and obtains the data for what has changed since the last update. Typically this data store will be less than half an hour behind the real-time updates.
Both locally on site, as well as at the data centre, only resilient equipment is used, so that mechanical failure of one disc drive does not mean that the database is compromised or down.
The local server provides for site-based centralised printing, file sharing, email and firewall facilities.
